Event Details

Digital Media Exchange (DMEX) links the experience and skills of traditional media freelancers and employees with the new markets and innovation of the region’s best Digital Media companies. It offers unique opportunity for Digital Media businesses to work with, and learn from, established professionals from the television industries, sharing skills and knowledge between both sectors.

As part of the programme, we are running a series of training events exploring some of the new & emerging digital media platforms and their potential uses in content creation.

This DMEX event will focus on how Social Media is changing how we the use the web to communicate, collaborate and create. It'll provide an insight into how Social Media & Web 2.0 can be harnessed in your day-to-day as TV professionals. Furthermore, as Social Media becomes increasingly pervasive, we'll try to explore how it might influence what content we consume in the near-future!

We've got some fantastic speakers lined up for this DMEX training session. First-up will be 'Social Media Evangelist' Christian Payne - a photographic journalist that embraced social media technologies a number of years ago and has never looked back.

Christian maintains and host blogs and podcasts with readers and listeners in over sixty countries. With a hand in social media, citizen journalism, professional photography and audio and video podcasting, his recent projects have included documenting the plight of Iraqi refugees for the United Nations; expanding the Open University's new media remit; and working alongside Reuters on groundbreaking projects with Gordon Brown and David Cameron.  Christian shows by doing, he helps organisations place themselves on the platforms and devices of their audience and get them engaging.www.OurManInside.com

Christian presents a compelling case for embracing social media in your working - as someone who has lived and breathed it.

Following Christian, will be Martin Bryant, who will present a hands-on masterclass on social media and web 2.0. Martin is UK Editor at The Next Web network of technology news blogs and Digital Content Editor at Marketing Manchester. Spending almost every waking hour covering the latest new web services or promoting Manchester via digital media, he knows what's worth spending your time with when it comes to building your digital presence.

Martin will call on his vast knowledge and experience to de-mystify some of the key platforms (including Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn) and how they can help your working practices.
